The ongoing entanglement of digitization and labour requires deeper analysis and research from ethnographic scholars. Perspectives from both scholarship investigating digitization of everyday life, and that focusing on labour culture, must be combined in order to lay the foundations for new critical labour culture research informed by media and digital anthropology. Labour, we suggest, is not only affected by digitization, but facilitates this, and operates within the digital. Therefore, we argue that there are three frameworks through which to approach phenomena related to digitization and labour: (1) digitized labour culture research, which focuses on the role of the working subject; (2) digitizing labour culture research, which focuses on the production of digital transformations; and (3) digital labour culture research, which focuses on labour that takes place within the digital.
